Winery profile - Domaine Peylong
If you join one of our Wine and Walking holidays, or if you take a self guided option, you may well visit this wine producer at the end of a walk in the area. The owners of Domaine Peylong have been tending their vines and making wine since the 1840’s, it is still owned by the same family, with Christelle and Fabien Lombard now at the helm. You will find a significant proportion of the world’s production of ‘Coteaux de Die’ here, it’s a tiny appellation. The rest of the planting is predominantly Rhone varieties, including syrah since the late 1990’s (rare for this part of the Drome). There is also cabernet sauvignon since 2009, which is probably unique. The red, white, rose and sparkling wines are almost all consumed locally, the reds are complex and powerful, all are very well made by people who are passionate about what they do, all their production is organic, nobody works harder!
You can visit the winery and taste their wares, preferably by contacting them in advance, in any event you will get a warm welcome. You can visit their website here.
