Wine and Walking - a perfect holiday combination

This wonderful week combines leisurely guided walking with wine tasting. It's a very informal affair, the emphasis is on enjoying the spectacular views and sampling delicious Rhone wines. There are many wine tours in France, not so many are wine and walking holidays combined. Above all, this is a walking holiday rather than a wine tour, but if you enjoy drinking wine, this holiday is for you.

The Drome - A Heaven on Earth

We're in the heart of the Drome valley in the Rhone Alpes region, wonderfully placed with the Rhone to the west, the alps to the north, Provence to the south, and the Italian border a few hours away to the east. The beautiful scenery, gorgeous Provencale sunlight and clear blue skies define our collection of wonderful day walks put together by our guide to emphasise the diversity of our region. To the north and east, the rugged terrain of the southern alps and the Vercors National Park is our objective: higher altitude but easy walking, the minibus does the work to reach beautiful places with spectacular views, eagles and vultures, chamois and ibex.

To the west and south, it’s wine country, rolling hills, fields of vines, sunflowers and lavender. We take a break from walking and visit some winemakers, taste their wines, and learn a little about their trade. You will discover why the wines of the Rhone have earned their enviable reputation for excellence and value for money.

Each evening, we think you will be bowled over by the excellent four course meals taken on the terrace at La Maison Rose, freshly prepared using local ingredients, and washed down with a broad selection of wines of the region. Wine tasting in France is never a chore, you will discover some delicious wines from the most unspoilt region of France.
