Spring Panoramas - a spectacular and easy walking holiday

This walking week is an easy walking holiday, we visit some of the higher but shorter circuits in the region, and are rewarded with exceptional views. Our guides are the best in the business, and with their knowledge and expertise, we continue to discover the treasures of the region. We have put together a collection of easy day-walks offering the opportunity to admire breathtaking views from five of the most exceptional locations.

The Southern Alps and Vercors Plateau

The Vercors National Park covers 135,000 hectares of high altitude limestone plateau, deep gorges, cliffs, peaks and valleys. It also harbours a wide variety of ecosystems, and maintains a rich biodiversity. And for walkers, it’s a perfect location.

In April and early May, Spring flowers emerge, and life returns to normal after the cold winter. Almost no-one lives here, and the way of life remains largely unchanged. Your charming guide knows the region like the back of his hand, with a profound knowledge of the flora and fauna, geology and history of the Drome and Vercors. He will lead you on an unforgettable collection of the most dramatic yet manageable circuits; enjoy views towards Mont Blanc and Mont Ventoux, and at the same time learn about the ‘Maquis’ and even the wolves.

All our day-walks on this unique walking holiday are less than 10 km, maximum height gain is 300m.

You will stay at a peaceful family run hotel in Saillans, renowned as much for their excellent cuisine as their warm hospitality, a real home from home. At the end of your day, take a dip in the pool, relax in the grounds or take a stroll round the village. In the evening, you will be impressed by the four course meals, often taken on the terrace, freshly prepared using local ingredients, and washed down with local wines.
