Bee Eaters

The European Bee Eater breeds in southern and central Europe, northern and southern Africa, and western Asia. Except for the resident southern African population, the species is strongly migratory, wintering in tropical Africa. Sightings in the Drome department are not unusual and we were fortunate in 2023 to have found a location by the river Drome only 30 minutes from our base with around 20 breeding pairs. We very much hope to be able to visit the same location again in 2024; if you are interested in seeing these beautiful birds we suggest you book a place on one of our Wildlife and Flowers holidays.
